THE GOAL LAB

Pick the return. Watch the saving change.

To reach a goal, a family saves a fixed amount every month. The return you assume decides how much they need to save. Pick an assumption and see if the plan fits their budget.

THE FAMILY Goal: ₹2 crore in 15 years. They can save up to ₹50,000 a month.
Yearly return you assume6%8%10%12%14%
A higher assumed return makes the plan look easier. It does not make markets kinder.
SAVE EACH MONTH ₹68,800₹57,800₹48,300₹40,000₹33,000 to reach ₹2 crore
FITS THE BUDGET? NoNoYesYesYes against ₹50,000 a month
₹2 crore in 15 years at 6% a year needs about ₹68,800 a month.₹2 crore in 15 years at 8% a year needs about ₹57,800 a month.₹2 crore in 15 years at 10% a year needs about ₹48,300 a month.₹2 crore in 15 years at 12% a year needs about ₹40,000 a month.₹2 crore in 15 years at 14% a year needs about ₹33,000 a month.
! Safe return, too much savingAbove their budget. Change the goal, the time or the mix.
! Close, but over budgetA careful assumption that still needs ₹7,800 more a month.
✓ Fits, if the mix supports itWithin budget, but needs a portfolio with enough shares to earn 10%.
! Looks easy, relies on marketsThe plan only works if markets are generous for fifteen years.
! Too good to promiseFew portfolios earn this reliably. A plan built on it will disappoint.

Make a call. See the miss. Fix the logic.

The simulations you run

You make a real call for a family, see where it goes wrong, then fix it. Here are three of them.

Return in the report 8% Their own money flows counted

“My account is only up 5%”

The report shows 8% and the client’s account rose 5%. Explain the gap using when they added and took out money.

Growth they cannot use

The plan chases growth, but the family needs cash for a house in eight months. Fix the mix.

Fund B disagrees
Fund C disagrees

Documents that disagree

Each proposal’s factsheet and documents tell a different story. Find which claims hold up.

WEEK 3 · CHOOSING PRODUCTS

A client invests ₹10 lakh. It grows to ₹11 lakh by mid-year. They then add ₹10 lakh. By year end the total is ₹21 lakh. How did the investments do in the second half?

Right call. Not quite.

After the top-up there was ₹11 lakh + ₹10 lakh = ₹21 lakh invested, and the year ended at ₹21 lakh. So the second half earned nothing. The account more than doubled only because the client added money. Separating what the client put in from what the investments earned is the first step in any honest report.

Milestone preview

Three graded milestones and a capstone. Each one is real work you can show.

✕

A founder family in two countries, wealth tied up in one company, dependants, several currencies and a review meeting on Thursday.

Five ways you
actually learn

Every week follows the same simple loop: learn an idea, try it straight away, use it to make a decision, review it, then show you can do it.

ASK THE DESK

What learners ask before they join.

FMFin Maverickquestion 01 of 05

Do I need a finance background?

No. Week 1 starts from zero: how a wealth firm works and what a family needs from it. If you are comfortable with percentages and a basic spreadsheet, the bootcamp teaches everything else.

FMFin Maverickquestion 02 of 05

How much time does it take each week?

Plan a few focused hours each week. Lessons are short and recorded, so you can fit them around college or work.

FMFin Maverickquestion 03 of 05

Is it live or recorded?

Fully self-paced. Lessons, actions, simulations and milestones are all on demand, so you learn when it suits you and replay anything as often as you need.

FMFin Maverickquestion 04 of 05

What do I walk out with?

Work you can walk through in an interview: a family diagnosis, a product screen, an allocation and retirement plan, a client report and a full family review. Strong work also earns a certificate of appreciation or a letter of recommendation.

FMFin Maverickquestion 05 of 05

Will this get me a job?

No course can promise that. What it gives you is work you can show and the answers to the questions wealth teams actually ask. That is what gets you through the interview.
